Is there a solar subscription in my city?+
Yes. Together, the two programs cover all of Florida. Which one fits depends on your address, your utility and your roof, and we confirm that in the diagnosis.
Can I cancel the subscription?+
In the statewide program the term is 10 years. From year 3 you can exit without a penalty if you give 90 days of written notice and are current on payments. At the end, it renews in 12-month periods unless you give notice first. In the Central Florida program the contract is 3 or 5 years and at the end you decide whether to renew.
Do they check my credit?+
Yes, in both. The Central Florida program uses a soft check that does not affect your score. In the statewide program the provider pulls your credit report to approve the contract. We tell you what to expect in the diagnosis, before you sign anything.
Are the savings guaranteed?+
In the Central Florida program, yes: at least 30% on your total bill, in writing, with a yearly true-up. In the statewide program savings are an estimate, around 30%, and are not guaranteed by contract.
Will my electric bill be $0?+
No. Your utility still charges a monthly minimum even with solar. You will have two payments: the subscription and whatever is left of your bill. Savings are measured by adding both.
Who owns the system and who repairs it?+
The program’s provider. They install, insure, monitor and repair it. You don’t pay for repairs or maintenance.
How do I know if I qualify?+
You need to own a single-family home in Florida. The Central Florida program also requires being within 50 miles of Orlando on FPL, Duke or TECO, with a shingle or metal roof that has 4 or more years of life. The statewide program accepts most roofs and utilities, and requires HOA approval where it applies, internet at home and access to your online utility account. Both check credit.
What if I need to replace my roof?+
In the Central Florida program there is one free removal and reinstall per term, and the 30% guarantee is suspended during the replacement. In the statewide program the provider removes and reinstalls the system, but the contract term is extended 36 months. If your roof has few years left, it is best to replace it before installing.
What happens at year 10?+
In the statewide program, if you don’t give notice before it ends, the contract renews in 12-month periods. If you don’t want to continue, you give written notice in time and they remove the system at their cost. There is no option to buy the system.
What happens if I sell the house?+
The contract can be transferred to the buyer. In the Central Florida program, if the buyer doesn’t want it, it is canceled at no cost and the system is removed. In the statewide program the buyer has to qualify; if they don’t, the system is removed at no cost and the contract ends. We show you the exact terms before you sign.
Will the battery keep my lights on in an outage?+
That is what it is for. The statewide program’s 40 kWh battery is one of the largest in the home market: enough for the fridge, lights, internet, fans and more for days, and the panels recharge it by day, so it also holds up through a long outage after a hurricane. How long it lasts depends on what you run; whole-home central A/C uses far more. The provider manages the battery and also uses it in grid programs, so the contract does not guarantee an exact backup level. In the diagnosis we look at what it covers in your home.
Why don’t you just sell me the subscription?+
Because it is not always what fits you best. With a high bill, a good roof and good credit, buying or financing can save you more. We show you the options with your numbers, and you decide.
